ICICI Securities Report

Asset management industry trends remain positive. This can be summarised with:

  1. overall equity inflows (including hybrid) of Rs 204 billion / Rs 1.65 trillion in November 2021 / FY22-to-date,

  2. increase in industry systematic investment plan from Rs 86 billion in April 2021 to Rs 110 billion in Nov-21 and

  3. increase in mutual fund folios from 97.9 million in March 2021 to 111.7 million in Sept-21.

Aggregate flows have also helped assets under management growth outperform the broader market indices.

However, in contrast, stock price correction and resultant dip in asset management company valuation multiples have been steep. Increasing financialisation of savings remains a valid thesis and AMCs remain a relevant play on the same.
