(Bloomberg) -- Turkey detained 70 suspected Islamic State militants in four provinces, ahead of new year celebrations.

Thirty-three suspects were detained in Ankara, the capital, while 22 were detained in Batman province, nine in Kayseri and six in Adana, state-run Anadolu Agency reported. Some of the suspects were foreign nationals, it said.

In 2017, a gunman opened fire inside a popular Istanbul nightclub shortly after revelers rang in the New Year, killing at least 39 people, including 15 foreigners. The Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attack.
