Tester Holds Montana Senate Seat for Democrats

(Bloomberg) -- Democratic Senator Jon Tester of Montana fended off Republican Matt Rosendale to win a third term in a red state that President Donald Trump won by 20 percentage points in 2016, according to the Associated Press.

Tester won although Trump repeatedly traveled to Montana to boost Rosendale, the state auditor. The president said he made it a personal quest to help defeat Tester for opposing Trump’s one-time nominee to be veterans affairs secretary, Ronny Jackson. Tester, a farmer and rancher, won by tacking to the center and vowing to work with Trump. He supported partial repeal of the 2010 Dodd-Frank financial law.
