(Bloomberg) -- Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez will recognize Juan Guaido as president of Venezuela, El Pais reported, citing people in the government it didn’t name.

Sanchez is due to make a statement at midday in Madrid.

Spanish Foreign Minister Josep Borrell said Friday that Guaido could be recognized as president if the current President Nicolas Maduro doesn’t call elections soon.
