(Bloomberg) -- Saudi Arabia dismissed as “incorrect” French President Emmanuel Macron’s comments suggesting that the kingdom held Lebanon’s premier Saad al-Hariri against his will in November.

The kingdom remains a supporter of Lebanon and its stability, the state-run Saudi Press Agency cited a foreign ministry official as saying. The official blamed Iran and Hezbollah for destabilizing Lebanon.

The ministry was reacting to an interview Macron gave to BFM TV in which he suggested that Lebanon would have been at war had France not intervened.
