Roger Stone's Lawyers Try to Clear Up Book Flap With His Judge

(Bloomberg) -- Roger Stone’s lawyers told the judge who issued a gag order in his criminal case that they didn’t mean to mislead her when they failed to tell her about a new introduction to a book he wrote.

In an extensive court filing Monday night, Stone’s lawyers told U.S. District Judge Amy Berman Jackson that there was confusion about the book’s publication status and that only after a Feb. 21 hearing did they realize the introduction may have violated her gag order. The filing came in response to Jackson’s request for additional information.

"There was/is no intention to hide anything," the attorneys said, adding that the new introduction "presented a question we tried, obviously clumsily, to address." The parties are due back before the judge for a previously scheduled case conference on March 14.
