McAdams Wins House Race In Utah for Democratic Pickup: AP

(Bloomberg) -- Democrat Ben McAdams defeated Republican Representative Mia Love in Utah’s 4th Congressional District, according to the Associated Press.

The match-up between the two-term congresswoman, the only female African-American Republican in the House, and Salt Lake County Mayor McAdams had been tied in the polls. The issue of health care played a major role in the McAdams campaign. Although Utah is ranked as the most Republican in the nation, the district west of Salt Lake City has seen close races. Love defeated Democrat Jim Matheson by just 768 votes in 2016.
