Iowa Democrats Review Inconsistencies in 5% of Precincts

(Bloomberg) -- The Iowa Democratic Party is reviewing caucus results from 95 precincts before it plans to release its official final vote count on Monday.

The review comes after complaints from the top three candidates -- Pete Buttigieg, Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren -- of inconsistencies in how votes were counted or tabulated. Their questions include allegations of mathematical errors and disputes about how to interpret rules on how non-traditional satellite precincts are counted.

The party didn’t immediately release the list of precincts under review.

The final count will allow the party to announce how many of its 41 pledged delegates to the national Democratic convention will go to which candidates. An Associated Press analysis of caucus results show Buttigieg in the lead with 13 delegates. He’s followed by Sanders with 12, Warren with eight, Joe Biden with six and Amy Klobuchar with one.

The AP’s count leaves one delegate yet to be determined.
