Andy Kim Wins New Jersey House Race in Another Democratic Pickup

(Bloomberg) -- Andy Kim, a Democrat who’s never held elective office, defeated two-term Republican Representative Tom MacArthur in New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District, the Associated Press projected more than a week after the election.

MacArthur was alone among New Jersey’s 12 House members to vote for the 2017 tax bill favored by President Donald Trump, and he was the author of a bill to repeal the Affordable Care Act, with elimination of pre-existing condition protections, higher out-of-pocket costs and an age tax. The legislation failed in the Senate.

Kim was a national security official under President Barack Obama.
