Taliban Deny Claim of Holding Peace Talks With Afghan Government

(Bloomberg) -- The Taliban denied they were holding peace talks with Afghanistan’s government after the head of NATO forces in the country said this week that negotiations were being held with leaders from the insurgent group to end the 17-year conflict.

U.S. General John Nicholson made “fabricated statements to divert attention from his failures and to keep the Washington media busy with false claims instead of exposing the failed Trump strategy in Afghanistan,” Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahed said in a statement on Friday.
