Arun Jaitley On ‘The Squeezing Out Of The Congress Party’

Congress lost its traditional constituency of poor electorate to BJP, added Jaitley.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley hit out at the opposition party Indian National Congress saying it is no longer a responsible political organisation.

“From a natural party of governance, it has moved to the fringe. It’s policies have alienated its constituency of the poor aam aadmi”, Arun Jaitley said in a Facebook post titled ‘The squeezing out of the Congress Party’.

The Congress’ “anti-reformist and anti-growth” image has distanced the party from its traditional voter base - “the poor electorate”, a space that’s now been captured by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), said Jaitley. The political scandals that kept tumbling out since 2004, haven’t helped the Congress either.

He also made a veiled attack at Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi, stating that the party’s “dynastic succession” method of choosing its leaders over merit-based selection makes it suffer from a natural disadvantage.

Tall leaders do not grow in such parties.
