(Bloomberg) -- The United Nations Security Council called for the restoration of the civilian-led transitional government in Sudan, following this week’s military coup.

The council also expressed “serious concern” about the declaration of a state of emergency, along with the detention of Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and other civilian members of the North African nation’s transitional government.

“The members of the Security Council called for the immediate release of all those who have been detained by the military authorities,” it said in a statement.
