(Bloomberg) -- Ugandan pop star-turned politician Robert Kyagulanyi said on Wednesday he will challenge President Yoweri Museveni, who has been at the helm of the East African nation for more than three decades, at polls due in 2021.

Kyagulanyi, 37, who goes by the stage name Bobi Wine, declared his intentions while introducing coordinators of a countrywide pressure group known as “People Power,” spokesman Joel Ssenyonyi said by phone from the capital, Kampala.

Museveni, 74, seized power in 1986 and is one of Africa’s longest-serving leaders.
