UEFA Postpones Champions League and Europa League Soccer Matches

(Bloomberg) --

All Champions League and Europa League soccer matches scheduled for next week have been postponed.

The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) said further decisions on when the matches will take place “will be communicated in due course”. The organization, that regulates European soccer, announced the decision in a website statement on Friday morning.

Affected matches include the remaining Champions League round of 16 second leg matches planned for March 17 and 18. The quarter-final draws of both competitions have also been pushed back from the planned date of March 20.

On Thursday, the administrative body invited representatives of its 55 member associations to a video conference meeting on March 17 to discuss European football’s response to the outbreak.
