Thailand’s Queen Sirikit has been hospitalized in Bangkok because of a respiratory infection, according to a palace statement.

While her condition has improved, her medical team expects the 86-year-old to remain in hospital for a while, according to the statement issued late Monday.

Sirikit is the widow of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej and the mother of the reigning monarch King Maha Vajiralongkorn.
