Spain’s Supreme Court Backs Suspension of Catalan President

(Bloomberg) -- Spain’s Supreme Court ruled against a request to suspend an order to debar Catalan regional President Joaquim Torra.

The Supreme Court said that the earlier decision by the electoral board to suspend Torra was not unconstitutional, according to a statement from the board on Thursday. The Supreme Court has yet to issue it’s own ruling.

The board had ruled on Jan. 3. Torra is still in office.
