(Bloomberg) -- The Seychelles ruling Parti Lepep, which has been in power on the Indian Ocean archipelago since 1977, is rebranding ahead of elections in two years.

The party, which was founded in 1964, has changed names several times in the past and will now be known as United Seychelles, a nod to the original Seychelles People’s United Party that took power after independence. The nation will hold presidential elections next in 2020.

“We in this movement know when to pass on power, when to re-evaluate our principles and s, when to re-align ourselves to our fundamental principles and better reflect the aspirations of the new generation,” party leader Vincent Meriton told a party congress on Nov. 24.
