(Bloomberg) -- Reitmans Canada Ltd. Chief Executive Officer Jeremy Reitman has died, the company said in a statement.

- Reitman passed away in Florida on Saturday, according to an online obituary
- “The death of Jeremy Reitman, way too young at 72, is a great lost for Canada and Canadian retailing,” Norman Levine, managing director of Toronto-based Portfolio Management Corp., said on Twitter Sunday
- The Canadian retailer was founded in 1926 by Jeremy Reitman’s grandparents
- It currently has 587 stores across the country including the Reitmans, Penningtons, Addition Elle, RW & Co. and Thyme Maternity chains
- Reitman had been chairman and CEO since 2010
