The Philippines is lifting a travel ban to South Korea imposed barely a week ago to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Philippine citizens are now allowed to go to South Korea except for North Gyeongsang province, presidential spokesman Salvador Panelo said in a statement Tuesday. He added that the ban on foreigners coming from the same South Korean province remains in effect.

There will be no new travel restrictions, Panelo added. The Philippines earlier banned travel to and from China, Hong Kong and Macau. It also briefly restricted travel to Taiwan, but lifted the ban days after implementing it.
