(Bloomberg) -- The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will continue to discount bridge and tunnel tolls for motorists who carpool, according to New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy.

Cars with at least three people as of Jan. 5 were to lose the discount, with drivers paying as much as $16 rather than $6.50. In a statement on Wednesday, Murphy said the bi-state agency “will offer a revised plan for a board vote that will maintain the discount while the Port Authority investigates how to implement the discount once cashless tolling is installed at all of its crossings.”
