Mozambique Ex-Minister Bail Hearing in South Africa Resumes Feb. 5

(Bloomberg) -- The bail hearing of Manuel Chang, the former Mozambican finance minister whom the U.S. accuses of accepting bribes in a $2 billion debt scandal, will resume on Feb. 5, the same day that a court deliberates over extradition requests by both his home nation and the U.S.

A power failure Friday interrupted the bail hearing at the Magistrate’s Court in Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg, forcing a postponement.

Chang has been detained in South Africa since Dec. 29 on U.S. Department of Justice charges. Mozambique’s Supreme Court this week issued an arrest warrant for Chang, O Pais reported Thursday, citing a person it didn’t identify.
