Malaysia, Singapore Discuss New Terms for Returning Citizens

(Bloomberg) -- Malaysia and Singapore are discussing new terms to let Malaysian citizens in the city-state return to their home country.

Under the current agreement, Malaysians working in neighboring Singapore must get a letter from the city-state certifying that they are free of the coronavirus before returning, Malaysia’s Defense Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said in a press briefing on Monday. There are “tens of thousands” of people seeking to return, he added.

The new terms, which are being discussed by the foreign and human resources ministries, will be announced as soon as Tuesday, Ismail said.
