(Bloomberg) -- Israel expanded its 14-day quarantine policy to include arrivals from all countries, ramping up its efforts to beat back the spread of the coronavirus.

The country has 42 confirmed cases so far, and there have been no fatalities. Israel has ordered tens of thousands of residents into quarantine, and the government is concerned about the growing danger of damage to the economy from the disruptions to daily life.

“This is a difficult decision but essential in order to safeguard the health of the public,” Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said on Monday.
