(Bloomberg) -- International recording artist Enrique Iglesias sued Universal International Music BV claiming the Dutch-based music producer shortchanged him by millions of dollars on the rights to the digital distribution of his works.

Universal has wrongly insisted that artists like Iglesias be paid for music streaming in the same way they’re compensated for physical records even though none of the production, distribution or inventory costs exist in the digital world, Iglesias’s lawyer James Sammataro said in a statement.

Iglesias sued the music producer in Miami federal court Wednesday.
