French Unemployment Drop Gives Macron Some Good News

(Bloomberg) -- As French President Emmanuel Macron crisscrosses the country to debate with Yellow Vest protesters, he has a new argument to convince the discontents that things aren’t that bad: unemployment is falling. At the end of 2018, when protesters wreaked havoc in town centers as they demanded higher incomes, unemployment declined to its lowest level in more than nine years. The situation for young people also improved, with unemployment among 15-to-24 year-olds falling below 20 percent for the first time in a decade.
