France to Host 2023 Rugby World Cup, Beating out South Africa

(Bloomberg) -- France will host the 2023 Rugby World Cup, beating out South Africa 24-15 in the final round of voting.

It will be the 10th edition of the tournament played every four years, and will come a year before Paris hosts the 2024 Summer Olympics, a major selling point the French bid organizers used in their campaign.

New Zealand is the defending champion, having won the 2015 World Cup in England. France has finished runner-up three times without winning the trophy. Japan is hosting the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
