(Bloomberg) -- Australia’s Prime Minister Scott Morrison will announce tighter restrictions on indoor gatherings on Wedneday as the government moves to contain the spread of the coronavirus.

Health Minister Greg Hunt told Sky News the national Cabinet discussed the measures late Tuesday with medical officials. Australia has already banned mass gatherings of 500 people or more, leading to a wave of sporting and cultural events being canceled.

The government is preparing to restrict non-essential gatherings in pubs, cinemas and restaurants, with state authorities to be given the power to limit gatherings of 100 people or more, the Sydney Morning Herald reported.
