Dubai Raises Prize Money for World's Richest Horse-Racing Day

(Bloomberg) -- Prize money at the world’s richest day for thoroughbred racing is getting a boost.

The winner and runners-up in the Dubai World Cup will take away $12 million next March, up from $10 million this year. Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum increased the total prize money awarded at all the day’s races to $35 million from $30 million.

This year’s Dubai World Cup, a race which lures the world’s best horses, was won in an upset by Sheikh Mohammed’s very own Thunder Snow.
