German Summer Budgets Are Stretched by Wurst Inflation

(Bloomberg) -- If your idea of a summer weekend in Germany is lounging under a parasol in your backyard with new sunglasses and an ice-cream cone, it won’t cost you a lot more than it did last year: Inflation rates for all those products ran below the country’s headline rate of 2.1 percent in June. If you fancy a sporty distraction, pick soccer over tennis -- the German team’s performance in the World Cup aside -- because that bratwurst at the end of the day will eat into your wallet.
