A Subdued Start Likely

Good Morning!

Indian equities snapped a five-day losing streak on Friday, but the gains were not enough to prevent a weekly loss for the benchmark indices.

Both S&P BSE Sensex and the NSE Nifty 50 index reported losses of over 2% for the week. This was the first such loss for the benchmark indices in three weeks. The FMCG index was the only index which reported gains on a weekly basis.

Asian equities are fluctuated at the start of the new trading week as bond yields continued to remain higher. Benchmark indices in Japan and South Korea fell while China, Hong Kong and Australian markets edged higher.

Futures on the Dow Jones are trading with losses of 60 points. The index ended 0.7% lower on Friday.

West Texas Intermediate crude fell 1.1% to $60.74 per barrel after capping its biggest weekly loss since October. Yields on the 10-year treasuries stood at 1.69%.
