Indian equity markets began Samvat 2077 on a positive note, ending with gains of half a percent. This was the third successive Mahurat trading session where the markets ended with gains.
The S&P BSE Sensex closed 0.45% higher at 43,637 while the NSE Nifty 50 index gained 0.5% to close at 12,780. Both benchmarks registered their respective closing highs.
Oil marketing companies were the top performers in the session. BPCL ended with gains of nearly 5%, ahead of its disinvestment deadline on November 16 while Indian Oil Corporation also ended with gains of over 2.5%.
Metal stocks like Hindalco, JSW Steel and financial names like State Bank of India and Bajaj Finance were among the top laggards.
All sectoral indices ended in the green, with the Nifty Realty index being the top gainer ending 0.8% higher.
Other Highlights From The Mahurat Trading Session
- Logistics Stocks Outperform: Stocks like Snowman Logistics (up 20%), GATI (up 13%), Allcargo Logistics (up 3.1%) and Mahindra Logistics (up 2%) outperformed the benchmarks in today's session.
- Adani Group Stocks: Stocks like Adani Green Energy (up 2%) and Adani Enterprises (up 0.7%) ended at their respective all-time highs. While Adani Green gained for the fourth straight day, Adani Enterprises was up for the sixth day in a row. Adani Transmission too ended with gains of 2.6%, ended higher for the sixth day, at its highest level since January this year.
- Broader Market Gainers: Other buzzing stocks during the Mahurat Trading session were Aditya Birla Capital, which ended 5% higher and was the top gainer on the Nifty Midcap index. Kalpataru Power gained 9% and was the top performer on the Nifty Smallcap index.
