(Bloomberg) -- A European Union prohibition on the sale of binary options to retail clients will be extended for three months amid a regulatory clampdown on speculative derivatives trades.

- The three-month extension will apply from April 2, ESMA said in Feb. 18 statement
- EU restrictions on retail derivatives have applied to products offered by brokers including Plus500, CMC Markets and IG Group
