European Broker Ban on Retail Binary Options Is Extended Again

(Bloomberg) -- A European Union prohibition on the sale of binary options to retail clients will be extended for three months amid a regulatory clampdown on speculative derivatives trades.

  • European Securities and Markets Authorityannounces extension of ban that has been in effect since July 2, 2018
  • The three-month extension will apply from April 2, ESMA said in Feb. 18 statement
  • EU restrictions on retail derivatives have applied to products offered by brokers including Plus500, CMC Markets and IG Group
