IIM Placement Updates: IIM Calcutta, IIM Nagpur Record 100% Hiring For Class Of 2021

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta and IIM-Nagpur have both successfully completed the placement drives for the post-graduate programme class of 2021.

A total of 467 students received over 520 job offers, IIM Calcutta said in a media statement. The institute said 172 firms were part of the recruitment process.

The average salary package was Rs 29 lakh per annum, higher than Rs 28 lakh last year. The consulting sector emerged as the top recruiter, as has been the trend across other top business schools this year, with 32% of the offers. Accenture Strategy and Boston Consulting Group hired the most.

Prominent names including Reliance Industries, ITC, Vedanta, P&G and Adani Group also continued to hire from IIM-Calcutta, albeit in lower numbers. Tech firms including Microsoft, Amazon, Flipkart and Paytm were also present.

Similar trends were witnessed in IIM-Nagpur too. Consulting and information technology firms were the hot sectors for hiring. The six-year-old IIM said that the average salary package this year was Rs 13.2 lakh per annum, a 1% rise from last year.

Meanwhile, India’s most-elite business school IIM-Ahmedabad completed the second cluster of placements on Friday. The final cluster will be on March 8.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic this year, all IIMs are conducting a completely virtual placement process. IIM-Bangalore, IIM-Lucknow and IIM-Kozhikode are among those who have already completed their placements process. All three first-generation IIMs recorded 100% placements.

IIM-Ahmedabad: Two Clusters Done, One To Go

IIM-Ahmedabad has completed two-thirds of its placement process for the post-graduate programme class of 2021.

On Friday, the institute conducted the second cluster of the placement process where firms from advertising and media, consumer goods and services, general management and retail carried out recruitment.

Regular recruiters like Asian Paints, CavinKare, HUL, IndiGo, ITC, Lenovo, Nestle, Reckitt Benckiser and Samsung, Wipro were the prominent names. Other recruiters included the CK Birla Group, RIL, Flipkart and Bharti Enterprises, IIM-A said in a statement.

IIM-A has created three clusters comprising multiple cohorts of companies offering similar profiles to candidates.

Cluster 1, which was conducted on March 2, comprised of four cohorts—investment banking and markets, management consulting, advisory consulting, and private equity, venture capital and asset management.

Accenture, American Express, Arthur D. Little, Avendus, Bain & Co., Boston Consulting Group, Citi, Credit Suisse, Goldman Sachs, IBM and KPMG were among the firms in the first cluster that offered jobs to its management graduates.

Boston Consulting Group made the highest number of offers at 32, followed by McKinsey at 30 in the first cluster. “Consulting firms, offering management consulting roles across geographies, including Middle East, continue to hire in large numbers.”

The third cluster is slated for March 8. The institute will follow a rolling process after that, if necessary.

IIM Lucknow: Average Pay Package At Rs 26 Lakh

IIM-Lucknow successfully completed its final placements for the 35th batch of MBA and the 16th batch of MBA-Agri Business Management in the last week of February.

The average salary package offered to its candidates stood at Rs 26 lakh per annum, according to a statement by the institute. The median package was at Rs 23.5 lakh per annum.

The highest package offered by a domestic company stood at Rs 51 lakh per annum, while that offered by an international firm was at Rs 56 lakh per annum.

Some of the key recruiters include Amazon, Byju's, Deloitte, Everest, Flipkart, Jio Platforms, Microsoft, Paytm, Salesforce, Accenture, Asian Paints, American Express, Goldman Sachs, Bain & Co., Mastercard Advisors, Citi, Mckinsey, Boston Consulting Group, Reliance Industries, Nestle, Mahindra & Mahindra, KPMG, ICICI Group and Kotak Group.

IIM-Kozhikode: Top 50% Students Get 8.1% Higher Salary Packages

All 459 students in the class of 2021 at IIM-Kozhikode were placed successfully with the top students getting higher average salary packages than last year.

The average salary package at the institute stood at Rs 22.5 lakh per annum, it said in a statement. The top 50% students got an average package of Rs 28.9 lakh per annum, 8.1% higher than last year.

This year, the institute saw 137 recruiters be part of the placement process, which was higher than the 131 last year. Of these, 51 were new recruiters.

Among the major recruiters were Accenture, Amazon, American Express, Asian Paints, Bain & Co., Bajaj Auto, Boston Consulting Group, Capgemini, Cognizant Business Consulting, Citi Bank, Deloitte, Deutsche Bank, Everest Industries, EY, Flipkart, Goldman Sachs, HSBC, JPMorgan Chase & Co, Microsoft, Nomura, Pidilite, PwC, Reliance Group and Samsung.

Companies like Baja Finserv, BlackRock, Equirus Capital, Franklin Templeton, Interglobe Aviation, L'Oreal and Paytm were among the 51 new recruiters this year.

Consulting firms were the biggest recruiters making one out of every three offers.

IIM-Bangalore: Consulting Firms Lead Hiring

Strategy consulting and product management were among the most sought after roles at the placement drive at IIM-Bangalore for its class of 2021.

The institute, in a statement, said that all its 435 students were placed. A total of 481 job offers were made by recruiters.

Here too, consulting companies led the hiring process, making 165 offers. Of this, Accenture was the highest with 45 offers, followed by Bain & Co. with 24 offers.

Big names that were part of the hiring process inlcuded: Amazon, Tata Consultancy Services, Microsoft, Ola, Byju's, Adobe, Oracle, Goldman Sachs, Citibank, JPMorgan, Vedanta, Reliance Group, Adani Group, Samsung, ITC, Procter & Gamble, Coca Cola, Anehuser-Busch InBev, American Express, Johnson & Johnson, Flipkart and Paytm, among others.
