TVS Motor Company Ltd. sold more number of units in September than in any of the last 12 months, driven by a 22 percent jump in scooter sales.
Total sales jumped 23 percent year-on-year to 3,59,850 units, the maker of Jupiter scooters said in an exchange filing. Scooter sales rose 43.3 percent to 1,21,601 units, while motorcycle numbers advanced 17.2 percent, recovering from a decline in August. Three-wheeler sales rose 54.9 percent to 8,996 units.
Exports rose 33.6 percent to 50,971 units compared to the same month last year, with motorcycles registering a growth of 30.5 percent.
Shares of the auto company declined 0.6 percent to Rs 653 apiece, after gaining 2.3 percent in early trade.
