Singapore Got a Crazy Rich Tourism Boost in 2018

International visitors rose 6.2 percent to 18.5 million from 2017. 

(Bloomberg) -- Singapore had a record number of tourists last year as the tiny city-state caught a wave of global attention from the hit movie, “Crazy Rich Asians,” and the hosting of the historic U.S.-North Korea leaders’ summit. International visitors rose 6.2 percent to 18.5 million from 2017, with receipts increasing by 1 percent to S$27.1 billion ($20 billion), data from the Singapore Tourism Board show. The good times are expected to roll on, with greater air connectivity helping boost visitors to as high as 19.2 million and lift receipts to as much as S$27.9 billion, according to STB’s 2019 forecasts.
