(Bloomberg) -- The U.S. states with the strongest job markets are concentrated in the West and South, according to Labor Department figures released Tuesday. Nevada led the nation last year with a 3.3 percent increase in payroll employment, followed by Oregon at 2.7 percent and Utah at 2.6 percent. The report also showed that the unemployment rates for December in California (4.3 percent), Hawaii (2 percent) and Mississippi (4.6 percent) were record lows in data going back to 1976.
