A Record Number of Older U.S. Women Working Past Age 55: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- More older women in America are working longer than ever before. Since the recession, the number of gainfully employed females past the age of 55 surpassed one third of their age group and it hasn’t let up, with a record 33.9 percent working last month. A recent AARP study found that Americans are split on why they continue to work -- some do so out of economic necessity and others to remain active.
