Covid-19 India Updates: Over 44,000 New Cases, 464 Deaths Reported In A Day

Daily Covid-19 infection rate in India continued to rise in signs of the third wave hitting the world's second-most populous nation.

More than 44,000 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry's Aug. 6 update. This marks the third straight day where daily cases have remained above the 42,000 mark.

India's active case load also marginally rose to 4.14 lakh.

• Doses administered in the last 24 hours: 57,97,808

As many as 464 fatalities were also reported in the same period, taking India's total death toll to 4.26 lakh, only behind the U.S. and Brazil.
