India’s fresh coronavirus infections exceeded daily recoveries for the fifth straight day amid concerns over an impending third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic.
India added 41,831 fresh cases in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to over 3.2 crore in the world’s second-most populous country, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Aug. 1, 2021. That surpassed 39,258 people who recovered in a day, causing the active cases to inch up slightly.
