Covid-19 India Updates: Fresh Cases Fall To 25,000, Third Wave Peak Projected In October

India reported a fall in daily Covid-19 infections at 25,000, even as the country's National Institute of Disaster Management has projected the third wave to hit its peak in October in its recent report to the Prime Minister's Office, according to ANI.

As many as 25,072 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the total tally to 3.24 crore in the world’s second-most populous nation, according to the Health Ministry’s update on Aug. 23, 2021.

Recoveries continued to eclipse fresh cases taking the active case load to 3.33 lakh.

  • Total number of active cases: 3,33,924

  • Total patients cured/discharged/migrated: 3,16,80,626

  • Total deaths: 4,34,756

  • Number of fresh cases in last 24 hours: 25,072

  • Number of recoveries in a day: 44,157

  • Deaths recorded in a day: 389

  • Total vaccine doses administered: 58,25,49,595

  • Doses administered in the last 24 hours: 7,95,543

Meanwhile, 389 patients succumbed to the deadly pathogen in the last 24 hours.

As many as 58.25 crore vaccine doses have also been administered so far under the nationwide drive to inoculate.
