India’s active coronavirus caseload continued to decline as the country prepares to roll out vaccines to stem the world’s second-worst outbreak.

Active Covid-19 cases dipped to 2.23 lakh, as of 8:00 a.m. on Jan. 10, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry. India reported 18,645 new cases in the last 24 hours taking the total caseload to 1.045 crore.

Total recoveries crossed the 1-crore-mark on Jan. 7 while the nation’s death toll crossed the 1.5-lakh-mark on Jan. 6. A total of 18.02 crore samples have been tested so far—9.16 lakh of them on Friday, PTI reported citing Indian Council of Medical Research.
