Coronavirus India Latest Updates: Lowest Number Of New Cases Reported In 214 Days

India reported the lowest number of new Covid-19 cases in 214 days, in a relief to the country's healthcare system bracing for a third wave.

18,166 people tested positive for the coronavirus in the last 24 hours, according to the Health Ministry’s update as of 8 a.m. on Oct. 10, the lowest since March 10.

Active cases dropped further to 2.30 lakh, which is the lowest in 208 days and is 0.68% of the country's total positive cases, the ministry said. The weekly positivity rate has also remained below 3% for the last 107 days.

A total of over 4.50 lakh people have succumbed to the deadly pathogen, with 214 fatalities being reported in the last 24 hours.
