U.K. Gas Surges as Pinched Pipeline Compounds Cold Snap: Chart

(Bloomberg) -- U.K. natural gas for immediate delivery surged the most in more than a year as a key North Sea oil and gas pipeline was unexpectedly shut to fix a crack. Britain is especially sensitive to interruptions as storage facilities that normally bolster supplies in cold periods are closed. Prices had already jumped as demand rose after a plunge in temperatures and snow covered much of the country.
