Zimbabwe's Second-Biggest City Rations Water Because of Drought

(Bloomberg) -- Zimbabwe’s second-biggest city introduced water rationing because a drought has reduced reservoir levels.

Restrictions of 36 hours per week will be introduced in all residential areas of Bulawayo on Wednesday, Town Clerk Christopher Dube said in a statement sent by mobile phone.

“This has been necessitated by low levels at the city’s water supply reservoirs and at the Umzingwane Dam,” he said. Rationing will be reviewed on a weekly basis, he said.
