(Bloomberg) -- Tesla Inc. is revisiting the design of its Model 3 sedan to mull ways it could shed weight, according to a supplier that’s worked with the company on each of its electric vehicles.

Shiloh Industries Inc., a supplier of lighter-weight stamped- and cast-metal components, is working with Tesla on options to lighten the vehicle, Chief Executive Officer Ramzi Hermiz said on an earnings call Tuesday. He said his company has less content on the Model 3 than the Model S or Model X, in part because the latter models use more aluminum.

“As they’ve gotten out through the launch” of the Model 3, “now they go back and look at some alternatives to help on the design,” Hermiz said, referring to Tesla.
