Prosecutor Seeks to Impeach Najib as Witness in 1MDB-Linked Trial

(Bloomberg) -- Prosecutor seeks to impeach former premier Najib Razak from being a witness in the trial involving a former unit of 1MDB due to differences in his testimony compared with his statement to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, Deputy Public Prosecutor V Sithambaram says in court.

• If judge approves the impeachment, Najib’s testimony wouldn’t be accepted in the trial and the defense can call on other witnesses instead
• Judge is deliberating on the matter
• NOTE: Najib faces seven charges in the trial for his alleged role in SRC International, a former 1MDB unit
