Iran Reshuffles Top Energy Officials as U.S. Sanctions Snap Back

(Bloomberg) -- Iran, the OPEC producer whose oil exports are being affected by U.S. sanctions, is changing top executives at its energy companies.

In the past three days, it made three new CEO appointments. They include:

  • Behzad Mohammadi replacing Reza Norouzzadeh as CEO of National Petrochemical Co.
  • Masoud Karbasian replacing Ali Kardor as CEO of National Iranian Oil Co.
  • Hassan Montazer Torbati replacing Mohammad Reza Araghi as head of National Iranian Gas Co.

U.S. sanctions lifted as part of the 2015 nuclear accord with Iran snapped back earlier this month as President Donald Trump fulfills his vow to ramp up pressure on the Islamic Republic over its “malign” behavior in the Middle East, its ballistic missile tests and its nuclear program.
