India on Tuesday introduced a flexible e-tourist visa based on tourist footfalls, with higher fees during peak months of July-March and considerably lower fee during the April-June lean season.
The flexible e-tourist visa is aimed at encouraging tourists to visit India, said Minister of State (Independent Charge) For Tourism Prahlad Singh Patel in New Delhi on Tuesday.
"India will offer 30-day e-tourist visa with $10 fee during the lean period of April to June and $25 fee during peak tourism period of July to March," he said.
A new five-year e-tourist visa will be introduced with $80 fee and a one-year e-tourist visa with $40 fee, the minister added. "For Japan, Singapore, Sri Lanka, lean period visa fees is $10 and for e-visa of 30 days, one year and five years is $25.”
