Ex-Lazard Banker Woo Is Said to Join Health-Care Fund C-Bridge

(Bloomberg) -- Former Lazard Ltd. investment banker Ian Woo is joining health care-focused private equity firm C-Bridge Capital.

He will be a managing director at Shanghai-based C-Bridge, according to a statement distributed by Globe Newswire, which confirmed an earlier Bloomberg News report. Woo is also going to join Everest Medicines, a biopharmaceutical company backed by C-Bridge, as president and chief financial officer.

Woo had been a managing director on Lazard’s health-care investment banking team, covering biopharma companies and leading the advisory firm’s health-care practice in China. He joined Lazard in 2005 and did stints in New York and Hong Kong.

“Ian has a proven track record of managing cross-border transactions,” C-Bridge Chief Executive Officer Fu Wei said in the statement. “As part of our team, he will help lead the acceleration of Everest’s licensing and development efforts for biopharmaceutical assets from the U.S. and Europe for commercialization in China and neighboring Asian markets.”

C-Bridge has about $1.4 billion under management. Its portfolio includes Chinese pharmaceutical companies, medical device manufacturers and providers of diagnostics and health-care services.
