Bharti Infratel Ltd. will have a strong balance sheet after its merger with Indus Towers Ltd. is completed, according to Private Equity Investor Gordon Dsouza.

“The telecom sector has been witnessing a consolidation,” Dsouza said at the Alpha Ideas 20-20 event in Mumbai. “Despite that Bharti Infratel is one of the least impacted companies among peers.”

Bharti Airtel Ltd., India’s largest telecom operator, approved the merger of its tower unit and unlisted Indus Towers to create the largest tower company outside China.

“Tower business has more advantages compared to fibre business,” Dsouza said.
